Vote to Improve Yourself!
This is the time of year when you can make your voice known in
National, State, and Local elections. Do not forget to vote on
November 4th.
It is also the time of year to consider your own career and knowledge
base. CSI’s Certification Exams will be given March 30 –
April 5, 2009 and registration is now open for the CDT, the CCS,
the CCPR, and the CCCA exams at www.csinet.org.
Earning new credentials by passing these exams are real achievements
to be celebrated. They demonstrate to the design and construction
community that you are an authority in your chosen field. Early
registration runs through January 2009, so sign up now! We would
welcome more expertise in our Chapter.
About 13 interested members and non-members enjoyed a good field
trip on October 14 to the Chesapeake Waterway Recycling Plant
on the Elizabeth River. The day was warm and fair, and our group
objected “not-at-all” when overspray from the floating
vs. non-floating debris separator caught us off guard. Our host,
Gene Hand, the Terminal manager, gave a video presentation and
spent time in a Question and Answer session before our walking
tour through the recycling plant itself, so that our group was
well-oriented, regarding both the recycling process and the mission
at Waterway. Thanks are also due to Tom Gill, our Chapter Programs
Chair, for arranging this visit. Come to our next Chapter meeting
on November 11, and greet him in person.
